Overview :
It is difficult to imagine everything that has happened in the
2500 year long existence of Rome. The ancient Romans constructed
gigantic temples, fought for democracy, built enormous villas
decorated with splendid frescoes, molded fine jewelry, and lived
in the lap of luxury created by thousands of slaves.
They built rotating ceilings that mimicked the celestial bodies,
imported gods from conquered lands and silk from China. They
had the means to sack entire cities and massacre thousands of
men for pure spectacle at their amphitheatres. They had the
sweetness to leave toys and miniature domestic objects in the
tombs of children.
The places we tour enter the political, religous, comercial
and social heart of Republican and Imperial Rome, the places
where it all happened?
